well we started falling some dead trees here in the dog yard. they have been threatening to fall all year and with the dogs running around I was concerned they would fall. we also have a large amount of just little branches and debris left from spring. a;though this seemed like a simple quick job it turned into a evening of heavy work from the whole family. because I waited so long to get to them the brush has grown up all around them so made it hard pulling the heavy trees in and around the standing one. so the fire is going as I type and we hopefully we can get all the trees burnt by tomorrow .
with our luck the chainsaw is not working so my husband spend a good hour with the axe cutting each tree into sections so they are at least short enough to get into the burning pit. I am so afraid we are going to run out of time this year to get all the projects done before winter falls. I know it is a ways away but each thing we are doing are larger projects and should be done each in one season but we simply do not have many seasons available for us. |I am also thinking of doing a daily video to go over the days events.
to skip to the morning adventures before I go I wanted to share with you some pictures we took of the baby chicks first days out of the coop and in the main area. it was very sweet I am not sure what was cutier the fact that billy the rooster had to break up many fighst between the babies or the babies need to explore every little spot. they almost did not want to come in, but we had to be good leaders and cuddle the little ones back in.
we are going to expand the chickens area next week when we get more fence so they can be 100% organic fed right now we are weaning them from the commercial food so they are 30 -70 right now. but I noticed the hens we got are pretty rough and we were not getting any eggs from them so what we started doing was giving them a treat every day of chia seed and corn. I noticed a increase of every chicken laying with ina week of feeding the natural foods. so now we have to every day make a treat and they go clucking along like anything. they almost fight over it and it is so good for them to eat. so hope fully they will keep up with the laying and enjoying being free run out side.
I do want to share with your a picture of one of my kids helping the babies and watching them on their first adventure. I am so impressed they are so good with them. they fight to go and pick eggs and to feed babies. it teaches them so many things and I am so proud of all their efforts with helping me. so that is it from me today I hope to take pictures of the dog yard tomorrow and then add them to the page but until then
seeya :-)
