it has been nasty with the storm the last few days and has left us in not a very good mood. with the chickens being cooped up for 2 days we realize we are going to have to get a bigger coop. so the plans may have to change a bit.
I am going to get started on the plans for a barn. something that will house all the chickens and the sheep and everything else. we are also working on a alternative power source for the barn for wintertime. we are making up some plans and we hope to show you when we are done I am convinced my husband to create a power source that utilizes what we already have.
anyhow I will not get into that as they are just plans right now and they may not come through. we are going to pick up the remaining rolls of fence and then we can let the alpaca and the lamb out into the pasture to eat and get them out of the corral. like any new animal I always like to keep them close for a bit in a corral to get them used to where they are going to live.
so cross fingers we can get the remainder of the fence and we can get the animals out today. I put the lamb out with the alpaca last night. I was so scared he was going to get eaten by a predator as the alpaca has not been with him long to know he is part of his herd.
so today is a day to go check the horses that are in the other pasture and see how they are doing and give them some love and then off to pick up the fence which is yet another long drive :-( but the fence is cheaper than buying new and it will give me at least 2 acres for the animals to go and eat from. I am excited to get it done and get them wondering around the pasture. it has been a long hard haul fencing with one person and the help from the little kids once and a while . makes me appreciate our for fathers and how hard it was for them to start farming.
