so what is this? and who am I?
So I guess the first post on this blog would be to start at the beginning of this adventure. Although the thought crossed my mind many times over I never thought I would ever be in a place to do a year long or even month long adventure in be self sufficient. I want to add quite early on that with this blog I am as sporadic in my writing as my thinking so it may take a bit to get used to jumping from topic to topic....or it may be entertaining as heck :-)
I do not do this alone, I have a very loving husband that helps me with all my little adventures , I am not sure how he is able to keep up with my ever changing mind of what I need to do and where I need to go. But he supports me sometimes it is hard for him but he does it none the less. I have 3 wonderful children that are joining me on this adventure( not by choice I may ad) they like the fact that I do get neat things and am always building or creating something, but they are exciting on a few parts of this journey.
so what is it I am doing? well I am not sure LOL, This started off as a way to save some money add some knowledge to the kids and bring in some new life experiences. So what my plans are is to try and be as self reliant as we can with out being the crazy family that lives on that farm down the road.
so my adventures are starting one day at a time I am adding in projects and tasks as I can handle them. because this involves animals livestock and living things I am cautious to overload my self with good intentions and just baby step my way from week to week.
sighh I know not a great plan well thought out but with my nature and personality I find if I plan too far in advance I get bored and long for more exciting and adventurist things. so here is the game plan I have so far.
- write and document my progress what we are doing. and remember to note the bad things as well as the good , life is never full of rose water sometimes it is vinegar too.
- take pictures along the way make maps draw pictures do anything that can bring out my creative side to the blog
- gather projects lists to do before winter hits and I run out of natures main growing and harvesting season.
- try to do things as close to natural as I can. use materials that are destined for the garbage dump and reuse as much as I can
- try not to start a community of hippies all chanting love the world :-) although creative and cool not really again what I need the neighbors talking about.
- go until it no longer is working for our family, not quit or give up but just stop if it has to be the project or the family
