well so much for holidays. :-)
we are trying to set up the egg incubator and all is working it is almost done but the thermostat we have is the wrong one so the temp is not perfect. so we are going to head down to the store and see if we can find a new one. it will be easier to have it regulated for us so that we can not panic with the temp changes and have a sucessful hatch. we found a video online on how to make a home made incubater and there is alot of different kinds out there but we opted for the one where we had the majority of the parts and materials here.
this is the video we went by he is easy to listen to and it is as basic as it gets. so one more part and we will be ready to put in a couple of eggs and wait 21 days to see if it hatches.

so here are some pictures of our almost complete incubator the materials used are as follows:
- one cooler ( this one was not sealing correct and we had put it away to throw away but it came in handy)
- one light fitting and light bulb ( we had some lava lamps for the kids and the tops broke on one so we are reusing the light bulb and fitting)
- moisture container( we have a canning jar I used for jams put it in there to keep the humidity up)
- thermometer ( we have many around but we decided we would get one from the store with a humidity gauge as well. 2.00)
- a platform for chicks( we had a old towel holder we found and put on the bottom to keep any hatched chicks from getting too close to the heater)
- automatic egg turner( that is us LOL, we have set up a few egg holders to put the eggs in and will drill a hole in the container to run some dowls through to be able to turn the eggs with out having to open the lid and break the tempature)

so hopefully today we can find the last tempature gauge today and have one more project done.
we also have some updated pictures of the chicks they are starting to roam around now we open up the cage daily and now they are starting to come out a bit so now we have to watch them.
